Samara Joint Stock Company of Opened Type is the biggest Russian
enterprise of the aerospace engine building. The history of the
enterprise began from the small Moscow plant "Gnom",
founded in 1912, which produced the 60 h.p. motors of the same name. |

|
 |
In 1923 Shvetsov, constructor of the plant,
projected the first Soviet M-5 engine for U-2 aircraft, which was used for
a long time on the home airplanes. Since that time the history of the
enterprise was admitted by the outstanding technical achievements. The
world records of the 20 - 30th, among which where the flights
Moscow-Peking (1925, motor M-17), Moscow North Pole - Vancuver (1937,
motor AM-34), and Chkalov flights, were fulfilled on the
Policarpov and Tupolev aircrafts, equipped with our engines. |
 |
The best IL-2 attack plane had an engine AM-38 of our enterprise. |
|
After the second World War the enterprise began
manufacturing of jet and turboprop engines instead of piston motors.Engine VK-I and it s modifications installed
on the battle planes, MIG-15, MIG-19, on the airplanes IL-28 and on the
other ones. Since 1959th serial production of General Constructor N.D.
Kuznetsov s engine began. Engines NK-4 were installed on the aircrafts
IL-2, an-10 and also on the intercontinental rocket-carrier and on the
passenger liner TU-144. JSC Motorostroitel for more than 40 years is connected
with JSC N.D. Kuznetsov Scientific and Technical complex and it`s
enterprise JSC " SKBM" limited. |
